WHAT WE COLLECT

When you use Perclaim, we collect:

  • The post text and images you choose to check
  • When you fact-check a post on Perclaim (which requires signing in with Google), your Google account email, display name, and unique account ID
  • Model and token usage data per submission (for cost tracking)
  • Aggregate, anonymous view counts on verdict pages

We don't collect your name, email, browsing history, or any information about pages you don't explicitly check.

HOW WE USE IT

The post text and images are sent to large language model providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) to generate the fact-check. By default, these go through Perclaim's own provider accounts.

If you've configured a BYOK (“bring your own key”) API key in Perclaim, your submissions are sent through your own provider account instead of Perclaim's. BYOK keys live in your browser. If you're signed in, you can also save your key to Perclaim so it syncs across your signed-in devices. Saved keys are encrypted at rest on our servers and decrypted only when needed — to run a fact-check or sync to a signed-in device — held briefly in memory, never logged.

The verdict and supporting sources are stored at a public URL (perclaim.com/v/<id>) that you control by sharing the link.

PUBLIC VERDICT PAGES

Each fact-check has a unique URL. Anyone with the URL can see the post text, images, and verdict. We do not list these pages publicly or include them in search engine indexes by default. Don't fact-check content you wouldn't be comfortable making accessible to anyone you share the link with.

THIRD PARTIES

We use the following services to operate Perclaim:

  • OpenAI and Anthropic (LLM providers — receive post text and images for analysis)
  • Google (OAuth sign-in — provides authentication for web users; receives sign-in flow data, returns email and display name)
  • Supabase (database and image storage)
  • Vercel (web hosting)
  • Vercel Web Analytics (aggregate page-view measurement; cookieless, no personal identifiers)
  • Resend (delivers contact form messages)
  • Stripe (payment processing for Pro subscriptions — see Payment Processing below)

Each has its own privacy policy governing data they receive.

LIMITED USE

Perclaim's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We use the data you provide only to deliver and improve Perclaim's fact-checking features.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not transfer it to third parties except the service providers listed above that are necessary to operate Perclaim, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with your prior consent.
  • We do not use or transfer your data for advertising, including personalized or retargeted advertising.
  • We do not use or transfer your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
  • We do not allow humans to read your data except where you have given consent (for example, support you request), where necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, or where required by law.
PAYMENT PROCESSING

When you subscribe to Perclaim Pro, we use Stripe, Inc. to process payments. Stripe collects and processes your payment information directly — we do not see or store your full payment card details. Stripe’s handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe’s privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.

We receive limited subscription metadata from Stripe necessary for subscription management: a customer identifier, your subscription status and billing cycle, current period end dates, and the last four digits of your payment card. We use this information solely to operate your subscription, send transactional emails (receipts, payment failures, cancellation confirmations), and provide customer support.

COOKIES AND TRACKING

Perclaim does not set tracking cookies. Essential cookies are used only for sign-in sessions when you authenticate with Google.

Vercel Web Analytics measures aggregate page views without cookies and without personal identifiers.

Standard server access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) are retained briefly for security and operational purposes.

YOUR RIGHTS

You can request:

  • A copy of any data associated with your account
  • Deletion of specific fact-checks or all your data

If you're signed in, you can also view your submission history at perclaim.com/history.

Use the form below — include the IDs of any specific checks you want removed (ck_xxxxxxxx or cl_xxxxxxxx). If you're signed in, include the email address associated with your account.

Fact-check verdicts you generated remain published at their permanent links after account deletion, in anonymized form: the verdict, its reasoning, and its sources stay available as part of the public record, but are no longer associated with you or your account. The original post content you checked is treated as public material.

CHILDREN

Perclaim is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13.

CHANGES

We may update this policy. The “last updated” date above will reflect any changes. Significant changes will be announced on the homepage.
